Puppies

Dear Puppy Parents,

Welcome to the Puppy room! What a fun and exciting age for your child! Our goal is to have many hands on, age appropriate activities throughout the day to foster your child’s self-esteem and independence. During the time your child is in the puppy room, your child will grow immensely, both socially and emotionally.

Our curriculum is based on the High Scope Curriculum. High Scope aligns with the Ohio Early Learning and Development Standards, and learning through play. Teachers plan activities around the children’s interests. They encourage and invite them to work in the different centers throughout the classroom. From dramatic play, to reading, to art, and many more, goals are made and worked on throughout the time your child is in the room. Your child will be given a primary teacher in which you will have a parent/ teacher conference.

Each day your child will get a daily report saying how they ate, length of nap, and something special about your child for the day. However, in the puppy room, we use the reusable reports. Please read the report that’s located in their pocket behind the door, then return it in the pocket. The teachers have a master potty chart that’s located in the bathroom. You’re more than welcome to check it or simply ask the teachers if you have a question. Around the 24-month milestone, the teachers will work on potty training once they show signs their ready.

Please provide your child with the following items and clearly label each item with your child’s name.

  • 2 Blankets, pillow, and a soft comfy toy (optional) (items are sent home on Friday’s to be washed and returned the following week)
  • 2-3 changes of clothes (shirts, pants, socks) (weather appropriate)
  • Diapers & wipes
  • Snow apparel (snow suit, boots, coat, hat, mittens: winter time only)
  • Please note: We do not use Pacifiers or Bottles

We are so glad to have your child in our classroom and we look forward to guiding your child’s growth and development, and to be a part of their young lives! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us (Puppy 1: 3-9182 & Puppy 2: 3-9184)
