Security Procedures

The center is located inside the NASA Glenn Research Center gates. All visitors must be cleared with NASA Glenn security before entering.

The staff maintains a permission list, which identifies the specific individuals who are permitted to remove a child from the premises. These individuals (other than parents) may be required to show picture identification, if they are unfamiliar to the staff, and must have a written Parental Permission Slip on file before removing a child.

NASA Glenn policy for non-badged parents:

Non-badged parents are required to have either a local area badge or a visitor pass to gain access to LLF.

Local area badges are for non-badged parents that will be on site 30 days, or more, per calendar year. These badges can be used to get on-site and into the building without an escort. In order to get a local area badge, individuals will need to be fingerprinted and complete a background check with badging control. There is no cost associated with the background check.

Visitor passes are for non-badged parents, or emergency pick-up/drop-off visitors, that will be on site for less than 30 days per calendar year. Visitor passes can be used to get on-site, but will not work to unlock the building doors. These passes are issued at the front gate and can be for anywhere from 1 to 30 days.

If you feel that you, your spouse, or emergency pick-up/drop-off contact will need a local area badge, please contact the LLF office for a link to begin the process.
